Check Point Research (CPR) experts announced that the number of ransomware attacks on online resources of commercial companies has increased by 102% since the beginning of the year. This is reported by Izvestia.
The study authors called the jerk “overwhelming.” Since the beginning of April, experts have been monitoring ransomware attacks on more than 1,000 organizations on a weekly basis. For comparison: at the end of the first quarter of 2020, this figure was below 600.
Sergey Zabula, the head of the group of systems engineers for working with partners of Check Point Software Technologies in Russia, believes that at the moment there is no reason to reduce the number of attacks. At the end of the year, there will be a 100% increase in the number of incidents.
The number of cyberattacks in Russia has increased with the introduction of the remote work regime. Organizations had to make their internal information systems accessible from the outside, which made them vulnerable to hackers.
