The Salvation Army, an international Christian charity organization, has been the victim of a ransomware attack.
“We are investigating a cyber incident affecting a number of our corporate IT systems. We have briefed the UK Philanthropy Commission and the UK Information Commissioner’s Office and are communicating with our key partners and staff, ”an organization spokesman said in an interview with The Register.
The Salvation Army declined to provide any additional information, such as the name of the extortionist group or the amount and type of data the criminals gained access to.
According to the sources of the publication, the Salvation Army detected a cyberattack about a month ago. Attackers hacked into the London data centre used by the organization.
