Air India says data on 4.5 million passengers stolen

There has been a leak of personal data of Air India passengers for the last 10 years, passport and contact information of passengers leaked to the Web.

The data leak occurred after a cyber attack on the Swiss company SITA, which is engaged in booking tickets and providing telecommunications services.

“The violation concerned personal data recorded between August 26, 2011, and February 3, 2021, and related to name, date of birth, contact information, passport information, ticket information, Star Alliance and Air India frequent flyer data, as well as data credit cards, ”Air India said, adding that they do not store bank card authentication codes.

The company said it has already taken steps to ensure data security. The incident is being investigated, third-party specialists are involved, and credit card issuers are notified of the incident.
