Gaming service users complain about access problems after VPN locks

In particular, users of the World of Tanks and World of Warships online games, Twitch and Flashscore services, as well as Avito and the BitTorrent torrent tracker reported problems with access.

Users of many gaming and streaming services have reported problems accessing platforms. According to operators, the disruptions could be the result of the recent blocking of VPN services. This was reported by Kommersant.

In particular, users of the World of Tanks and World of Warships online games, Twitch and Flashscore services, as well as Avito and the BitTorrent torrent tracker reported problems with access.

The gaming company Wargaming indicated that the difficulties are directly related to the blocking by providers of many UDP ports used by games.

Roskomnadzor denies the involvement of blocking VPN services in problems in gaming resources.

“When implementing measures to block VPN, these UDP ports were not blocked,” said Roskomnadzor.

Representatives of telecom operators said that, according to the law, they do not control and cannot turn off TSPU equipment if something happens in the network incorrectly when transferring data to users. “.

Only ILV “specialists” can configure and control the TSPU elements. Due to the secrecy of Roskomnadzor, it is not yet known exactly what kind of equipment is supplied to block VPN and why it does not work adequately.

Recall that on September 3, Roskomnadzor blocked 6 VPN services in the country. The department considered that they were violating Russian law. Sanctions targeted Hola VPN, Express VPN, KeepSolid VPN Unlimited, Nord VPN, Speedify VPN and IPVanish VPN.
