Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, a major South Korean shipbuilding company specializing in the production of naval vessels, has been hacked by unknown cybercriminals.
This was reported by the South Korean newspaper Chun’an Ilbo.
South Korea’s Defense Procurement Programs agency confirmed attempts to hack Daewoo’s database but declined to say whether the attempts were successful or who was behind the attack.
The company reported the incident to the police, and law enforcement officials worked with the military to investigate the incident.
A spokesman for the agency also denied news reports that allegedly North Korean hackers hacked into Daewoo Shipbuilding’s computer systems last year and stole some developments, including data on a nuclear submarine.
