Vulnerabilities have not been fixed as of yet
British researchers have discovered a vulnerability in Apple Pay and Visa that allows contactless payments on a locked iPhone.
Hackers can bypass Apple Pay restrictions on any iPhone and Visa. It is necessary that the card is in a special mode designed to integrate cards with travel cards on the iPhone.
Researchers claim that attackers can conduct an unlimited number of contactless transactions from a locked iPhone. To prove this, the authors of the new article carried out an attack, “stealing” a thousand pounds (about $ 1,300) from their personal accounts.
All an attacker needs to launch an attack is an enabled iPhone. Interestingly, the researchers were unable to replicate their experiment with Mastercard and Apple Pay or Visa and Samsung Pay. Neither Apple nor Visa, who have been informed of the vulnerabilities, have yet to fix the problem.
