Regulating the registration and storage of encryption keys for the mobile network and messengers will make it possible to more effectively combat the spread of extremism and terrorism using the Internet, said the chairman of the RF IC, Alexander Bastrykin, on July 25 in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
“To suppress such crimes at the international level, it is necessary to regulate the procedure for registering and storing encryption keys for mobile communications in order to effectively identify messages in instant messengers that are used by extremists and terrorists,” Bastrykin said.
According to the chairman of the UK, this will create opportunities for obtaining legal access to information used by terrorists, as well as help to figure out what devices they are using and their location. It is necessary to continue to improve legislation in the field of countering extremism, he stressed.
